What Is A Diversified Energy 360 Energy Audit?
Every Diversified Energy 360 Energy Audit is custom for the client. Some folks want or need an extremely comprehensive energy audit, and other homeowners just want a basic energy audit. Regardless of your energy audit wants and needs, we will assemble the diagnostic services necessary to help you achieve your goals.
The Basic Components Of An Energy Audit
At the heart of every Diversified Energy 360 Energy Audit is a Blower Door Test and a Duct Blaster Test performed by our highly trained, BPI certified technicians.
Blower Door Test
The Blower Door Test measures the overall air leakage in your home through a series of depressurization tests. Our top-of-the-line digital equipment accurately measures the overall leakage of your home, and helps us find and identify where the air leakage is originating.
Duct Blaster Test
Our Duct Blaster Test measures the overall air leakage within your HVAC duct-work. Our digital Duct Blaster equipment pressurizes your duct-work, so the amount of leakage can be accurately quantified. In addition to the pressure test, we can inject theatrical fog into your duct-work during the test so we can identify all the areas of leakage when doing our physical inspection of your ductwork.
Overall Home Assessment
Our technicians will use our cutting edge software to determine your home’s overall energy efficiency score. To achieve this, our tech will conduct an overall home inspection and enter all the vital data into the software, including total conditioned square footage, insulation type[s] and R-Values, solar orientation of your home, total window area and type, total door area and types, age and efficiency rating of all existing equipment [HVAC system, water heater, etc.], volume, plus the results of your Blower Door and Duct Blaster test.
Once all this data has been entered into our software, we can put a projected dollar value [based on current electric and natural gas cost] on how much you can save by making different energy efficiency upgrades.
Additional Energy Audit Services
Depending on what you need to know, or specific aspects of your home, your 360 Energy Audit can also include: Infrared Photography and Combustion Appliance Zone [CAZ] Testing.
Infrared Photography
Infrared Photography, aka Thermography records surface temperature variations of your home’s heat spectrum. Infrared Photography basically lets us “see inside your walls” without having to cut holes in them to inspect visually. Using our infrared cameras we can see where heat loss/gain is occurring, as well as identify areas of air leakage in your home’s structure and HVAC duct-work.
Infrared Photography is an invaluable asset for our technicians to pinpoint trouble spots that are invisible to the eye, or maybe missed during a routine visual and physical inspection.
Combustion Appliance Zone [CAZ] Testing
Do you have a natural-draft, gas-fired water heater or furnace located within the conditioned space of your home? If yes, this is where CAZ Testing comes into play.
CAZ tests are designed to ensure that flammable fuels or combustion gases are not intruding into the home’s living spaces. CAZ testing also assures homeowners that their appliances are functioning in a safe and efficient manner. This series of tests is mandatory for your family’s safety and is required by most utility companies for any home with combustion appliances located in conditioned interior living spaces.
